The congregation of Ampthill Baptist Church is drawn from Ampthill and Flitwick and surrounding areas of Bedfordshire.

Ampthill Baptist Church is an active member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and The Central Baptist Association.

The Church was founded in 1797 and has been meeting in the present location for more than 200 years. In recent years the interior has been modernised and an extension has added more space.

The Church counts it a privilege to serve as part of the local community and participates in and supports community activities whenever possible.

Relationships with the Wider Church

ABC enjoys good relationships with all the other local Churches and is part of the local Churches Together in Ampthill and Flitwick. All the Ministers meet regularly to share fellowship and plans for united activity.

We promote Fairtrade and use Fairtrade goods.

The church supports TearFund as one of our Mission Partners.

We support Christian Aid.

We also support a number of other MISSION PARTNERSHIPS.

Some time ago we were visited by a Mystery Worshipper, who attended one of our morning services, leaving their calling card in the collection to let us know we'd been visited. The report appears on the Ship of Fools website. and can be read at this page.

Our church is the people in it - not the building! The people of Ampthill Baptist Church (ABC) are drawn from diverse backgrounds and age groups. We have different gifts and different experiences but the combination makes for a lively and welcoming fellowship that is committed to serving God in Ampthill and beyond.

Jesus commanded us to go into all the world. We are committed to being a church whose priority is to share the Good News of Jesus by word and action

Jesus said we are to love one another as He loves us. We are committed to being a church open to all, characterised by love; whose fellowship is warm, welcoming, inclusive and caring, rejoicing in the unity and fellowship of all Christian believers.

We want to reflect God’s passion for DISCIPLESHIP
Jesus commanded us to make disciples. We are committed to being a church that will teach, train and encourage one another to grow in Christ-like character and obedience.

We want to reflect God’s passion for SERVICE
Jesus commanded us to serve others. We are committed to being a church with a heart of service towards one another, our local community and the wider world. We want to be a church where everyone uses their gifts and resources in service that builds Christ’s Kingdom, and confronts evil and injustice in God’s world.
