Courses

We run a number of courses throughout the year on a variety of topics. You’re invited to join in with any that you’re interested in.

All our courses are completely free and open to anyone. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Christian or not, or if you attend ABC, another church or no church, everyone is welcome!

 Our Courses

Alpha

Alpha is perfect for anyone wanting to explore life, faith and meaning.

It’s a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, run over 11 weeks which is open to everyone. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

No question is out of bounds.

Like most things we do at Ampthill Baptist Church, it’s very relaxed and there’s lots of space for chat! There is no cost for Alpha - even when we eat together it’s completely free of charge!

This course is currently running on Mondays at 7.45pm.

Bible Stones

Bible stones is a five-session course, running on Wednesday evenings during Lent starting on Wednesday 28th February here at Ampthill Baptist Church.

This course is accessible  and during the evenings we will be digging into the Bible, but also sharing our own experience and understanding. All course material will be provided and bibles will be available.

We will meet at 7:30 pm for refreshments, and get started on the study at about 7:45 and aim to finish by 9:15 pm.

Big Questions

Update: Next course starts November 2024

Big Questions is an opportunity to look at some of life’s big questions as we explore them together at Costa Coffee in Ampthill. Everyone who comes gets a free drink and cake to enjoy while listening to a talk where one of these big questions are unpacked, then there’s plenty of time to chat with those on your table and share your views.

Topics include:

  • God: does He exist?

  • Science and faith: what can we trust?

  • Suffering and evil: where is God in a broken world?

  • Fake news: is Christianity a fairy tale?

  • Life and death: are we made for more?

Big Questions is open to anyone of any age. There’s no need to sign up, no follow up and no charge. You’re welcome to come along by yourself or with a friend.

There are many excellent resources and books to help explore these big questions. We've put together a selection here which you might find useful.

Explore Mark’s Gospel

Explore Mark’s Gospel takes place over a number of Wednesday evenings, and leads us step by step through the whole gospel, with questions to help us explore the text.

It’s free to attend and a copy of Mark’s Gospel will be provided. We’ll explore the person, message and mission of Jesus Christ as a group, looking at what this gospel has to say, with questions and plenty of time for discussion.

Mark’s is the earliest and the shortest of the four Gospels and is quite fast-paced. Join us to see what this small book has to tell us.

Check back regularly for details of when the next ‘Explore Mark’s Gospel’ starts.

The Bereavement Journey

The Bereavement Journey is a gentle and safe space for those who have been bereaved, whether recently or for many years, to process loss, receive support and to journey with others. It runs for seven Wednesday evenings between 7.00pm and 9.30pm at Ampthill Baptist Church.

Starting Wednesday 10th April 2024.

CAP Money Course

The Money Course is a simple, yet highly effective money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a cash-based system that really works.

This course will help anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can save, give and prevent debt. Ampthill Baptist Church has partnered with Christians Against Poverty to offer CAP Money courses in our community. The service we offer is completely free.
