Welcome

In a large Church it is possible to feel a little lost in the crowd, especially if you are a visitor.  We want to assure you of a welcome and introduce you to some of our leaders who are approachable and friendly people.

Senior Pastor:  Stephen Plummer

Stephen has been the Pastor at ABC since 1996, having previously been Assistant Minister at Queensberry Street, Nottingham. Stephen hails from Coventry, and worked in agriculture, retail sales, and for the African Pastors' Fellowship, before training at the London School of Theology from 1989-92. His interests include a love of sport, including rugby which he played at Under-19 County level, and natural history. He is currently the Chairman of the Bedfordshire Natural History Society. Stephen is married to Carole and they have three sons - Mark, John and Matthew.

Associate Pastor for Youth and Local Community:  Martin Cockerill

Martin moved from Brighton to Ampthill in 2007 to become the newest member of the ABC team, with his wife Clare and his young son, Toby.  In his pre-Ampthill life, Martin has worked as a gym manager, a church worker, done six months with a Christian circus in Brazil and attended London School of Theology, where he received his degree and met Clare.

Martin is a commited Leicester City fan, enjoys running, playing golf, spending time out and about with his family, and evenings in eating pizza and watching LOST.

Martin is passionate about Jesus, the local church and the community, and wants to see the church reach out to meet the needs of the community.

Associate Pastor for Church Community:  Ken Argent

Ken Argent has served as Pastor of Churches in Horsham and Luton and as Director General of the Christian Youth Organisation Campaigner Ministries. Now 'officially' on the Baptist Union retired list he serves as an Associate Pastor at Ampthill Baptist Church caring for the Church community.

He is married to Gill and they have 6 grandchildren.

Ken enjoys photography, watercolour painting, gardening and walking.

Associate Pastor for Mission Partnerships:  Sally Metianu

Sally became the Associate Pastor for Mission Partnerships in 2006, having previously been involved in many different aspects of ABC over the years.  She has long been convinced of the importance of involvement with worldwide mission for the local church.

Sally was previously a social worker and is married to Andy whose working life was in overseas aid.  They still like to travel abroad, seeing how life is for different peoples.

They have three adult daughters and one Grandson.

The Senior Pastor and Asssociate Pastors work in partnership with a team of Deacons who are the legal Trustees of Ampthill Baptist Church.  Deacons are appointed by the Church Members who meet regularly to prayerfully discern what they believe to be God's guidance for Church decisions.
