Pastoral Support Assistant (Part-Time)

The Role:

The purpose of the Pastoral Support Assistant is to support the pastoral work of Ampthill Baptist Church to ensure continuity of pastoral care while a member of staff is on adoption leave. The Pastoral Support Assistant will primarily be working with the Senior Pastor and Seniors Ministry Co-Ordinator, as well as enabling and overseeing the Church’s small groups.

The role is part-time (21 hours per week), focused mainly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with some flexibility of working hours anticipated. The role can be undertaken based at home but will require attending events at Ampthill Baptist Church (ABC) and visiting people in their homes or other places.

 Responsibilities

  • Presence and engagement at the following events:

  • Fellowship Lunch (monthly, Tuesdays, 12:00-3:00pm)

  • T@2 (monthly, Tuesdays, 1:30-4:30pm)

  • Renew Wellbeing (weekly,  Wednesdays, 9:30am-12:30pm)

  • Pastoral visits to individuals

  • Enabling and supporting the leaders of small groups including provision of resources, pastoral input and prayerful support

  • Attend weekly ministry team meetings on Monday mornings

  • Ideally, attend Sunday morning services at ABC

 Personal Qualities

We are seeking a godly, compassionate, caring Christian, with excellent communication and listening skills, who is committed to the gospel, willing to participate in the church’s life, mission, and ministry, who has a keen interest in people and is well-equipped in supporting their pastoral needs.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the postholder to be a committed Christian. The appointment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, satisfactory references and the candidate holding a full UK driving licence.

Children’s and Families Worker

The Role:

Part-time Children's and Families Worker (3 or 4 days equivalent per week)

Ampthill Baptist Church (ABC) wish to further develop our children’s ministry, enable children to grow spiritually, develop our outreach to unchurched children in our local community and offer pastoral support to children and families. We are passionate to enable children to come to know Jesus. The current children’s work is run by an enthusiastic and talented team of volunteers, led by our Children’s Worker.

 The role includes:

  • Oversight and development of children’s ministry

  • Taking the lead and being present across all our children’s events

  • Supporting and co-ordinating volunteers

  • Enabling a summer holiday club

  • Offering pastoral support, seeking to build meaningful relationships and encourage faith

  • Communicating with parents, children and the church

  • Serving on our staff team

  • Fostering links with local schools and other groups

We are seeking a godly, gifted, enthusiastic leader committed to the gospel who will lead this work forward and be a great addition to our ministry team.

The post would ideally suit someone with a few years’ ministry or teaching experience.
