The Good Gospel
It was great to meet as a church family again yesterday, continuing with our sermon series through the book of Galatians. Alex reflected on how good news can be life changing and many of us probably have crystal clear memories of times when we were told some good news that changed our lives!
The good news that Paul heard and is referring to in this passage in Galatians was utterly transformational. But he wanted to go back to basics, restating the origin of the message, that he had received this good news from God, through a direct encounter with Jesus. For a lot of us, our story of transformation might not be quite as dramatic – and that's okay! We are all different and God works in us in different ways. Ultimately, as Christians, we have all at some point, whether suddenly or gradually, reached the simple realisation that Jesus really is who He says He is and He is faithful to do everything He has promised to do.
For Paul, the trajectory of his life was drastically changed, going from opposing and persecuting Christians to actively seeking to preach and share the gospel with others. Your story is no less amazing! The power of the gospel is that God alone can bring you to new life with Him through Jesus. This same power keeps on changing us and will reveal the character of Jesus through our actions and attitudes. This is the work that only God can do. Good news for us, in us, through us.
Let's be committed to walking in step with our Master, boldly sharing the good news of the gospel!📰
