Being worshippers

This Sunday we were looking at what it means for us to be worshippers. First of all, we are worshippers together! In Psalm 148 we see everything and everyone being invited to worship the Lord. Shaggy encouraged us to see how we had all made a decision to turn up to church, making the decision that Jesus was worth turning up for! Jesus should always be the main thing, however we choose to worship.

And it's easy to think that singing on a Sunday morning is the only way to worship. But we are also worshippers when we are apart! We looked together at many examples in the Psalms echoing our everyday Monday-through-Saturday lives when we are able to worship as individuals. If you're not sure how to worship when you're on your own, Shaggy suggested using scripture, particularly the Psalms, listening to worship music or using the lyrics, and keeping it simple, just praising God for things around you!

Finally, we are worshippers in all circumstances - both when we are under pressure or in pain, and when everything is alright. Our worship should be based on who God is, not on how we are feeling. We saw from the story in 2 Chronicles 20 how even when faced with a 'vast army' we can look to God, using worship as our weapon, our antidote to fear.

Sometimes it's easier to worship when things are going wrong, but when things are going well, we forget God! We want to be people who have worship as their identity, worshipping God in all of life, whether the sun is shining or it's torrential rain, whether it's Sunday or Monday.

How will you be a worshipper this week?🙌🏼
